Bill Plympton

Bill Plympton

You probably wouldn't recognize Bill Plympton's real face, but there is a good chance you'd recognize his cartoon one.  Plympton, who was born in 1946 in Oregon, is best known for his 1988 Oscar-nominated Your Face, a three-minute-long, surreal, color-pencil-driven contortion of a human face.  Plympton has also published his cartoons everywhere from Playboy to the New York Times.

In the past 20 years, Plympton has created numerous other animated shorts, including Push Comes To Shove, which won the 1991 Jury Prize at Cannes, as well as two  live-action films.  In 2005, Plympton received his second Oscar nomination, for the comic short Guard Dog.
