Comedian Mike Birbiglia opened up to his audiences in 2007 with a CD of personal stories called My Secret Public Journal Live and received rave reviews. Time Out New York called Journal “the comedy album of the year” and Punchline Magazine called it “the best comedy album of this generation,” in addition to accolades from The Denver Post, Boston Globe, Washington Post, Time Out Chicago, and Las Vegas Weekly.

For the past 7 years, Mike has toured the country honing the act that made him one of the youngest comedians to ever appear on The Late Show with David Letterman and popularized the phrase “Cracker Please” as well as the renaming of George Bush as “Whiffle Ball Tony.” This led to Mike’s two highly rated Comedy Central Presents half hour specials and his Comedy Central Records debut Two Drink Mike.

But what has truly galvanized Mike’s fan base is his “Secret Public Journal,” a weekly travelogue that he emails to thirty thousand fans and broadcasts to millions on the nationally-syndicated Bob & Tom Radio Show and Public Radio International’s Fair Game. These personal, autobiographical diary entries, which evoke the nostalgic tone of David Sedaris and the relatability of Bill Cosby, have truly defined Birbiglia’s persona.

In the fall of 2007, Mike brought his “Secret Public Journal” to the stage with the Comedy Central-sponsored national tour, Mike Birbiglia’s Secret Public Tour to promote the release of the CD. The tour concluded with a concert taping of What I Should have Said Was Nothing, a “best of” the material from My Secret Public Journal and Two Drink Mike that premiered as a one hour special on Comedy Central on February 9th.  What I Should Have Said Was Nothing was released on DVD on April 8th.

Mike’s next show, Sleepwalk with Me, is a painfully funny one-man play about first love, first breakups, and how his own sleepwalking disorder nearly killed him.  Mike will run the show for three nights at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal in July leading up to a national theater tour in the fall.
