Modest Mouse’s rise to the top took a quick 11 years, five albums and countless tour dates. Their breakthrough album, Good News For People Who Love Bad News, went platinum in August and has gone on to sell over 1.2 million copies. Most recently, the album was nominated for two Grammy Awards for “Best Alternative Album” and “Best Rock Song” for “Float On”.
The accolades surrounding Good News have them perched atop multiple critics’ top 2004 lists. Entertainment Weekly named it #1 on their “Top 27 Albums We Are Thankful For,” Spin named them “Band of The Year,” and Good News was listed as a favorite album by GQ, Los Angeles Times and Blender, among countless others including The New York Times, “…a joyful noise, from clattering folk-punk to sleek new wave.”
After a year of hitting the late night circuit, look for Modest Mouse’s first two appearances of 2005 on Fox’s hit show “The O.C.” on January 6th and PBS’s “Austin City Limits,” airing January 22nd. Following their two smash hits, “Float On” and “The Ocean Breathes Salty,” keep your ears tuned for their third single “World At Large.”
