OUR ADVICE:
Bathrooms and Showers
Susie:
- Bring antibacterial for post-porta potty experiences.
- Don't forget extra TP (just in case!)
- Biodegradable shampoos/conditioners/dish soaps/etc.
Andrew:
- For the past few years, we've been using one of those big 5-6 gallon water jugs with an adjustable spigot for showering. We put it on the roof of a car with the spigot hanging over and stand under it. Works pretty well.
Weather
Susie:
- Bring extra shoes in case it rains and the 1st pair get toady caked with mud and/or other questionable substances
- Bring sunscreen (light, non-greasy kind) and a sweater for night time.
Andrew:
- Plenty of tarps for the annual downpour
- Poncho (of course!)
Sleeping
Susie: Here's an alternate way we've slept at night - used our tent for storage (food coolers, clothes, etc) and slept in the back of Andrew's SUV (minivans and hatchbacks can prob do this, too). Tape black trash bags to all windows to block out early morning light and install at least 2 battery powered fans at various points within the car. This keeps the air flowing throughout the night - keep a window cracked for optimal air flow. This setup proves to be a lot cooler in the early morning hours than tent camping.
Andrew:
Make sure to bring a propane lantern with plenty of propane
Food/Water
Susie:
- Bring lots of fruit to eat, especially ones high in water content. Keeps you hydrated and cool.
Andrew:
- Mini fan to carry around throughout the day (preferably one with a mister)
- Plenty of packs of Emergen-C (I put this in my CamelBak water each day, gives me vitamins and energy all day)
- Energy or protein bars to snack on throughout the day
- CamelBak that has many compartments to transport water and snacks inside the music area.
- Propane stove with plenty of propane
Other stuff you might forget:
Susie:
- Jumper cables and a camera!!!
- Also, something we saw someone do last year was to put a little bit of oil (ie, peppermint) into the mister of the water bottle. This really cools your skin off and also smells nice!
Andrew:
- DRY ICE! This was a huge success that I discovered last year. It keeps your cooler colder for way longer. Make sure to get a lot of it though, preferably an entire cooler dedicated to just that, so it will stay frozen throughout the weekend and you can replenish you food/drink coolers with more of it when they need it.
