DAY 2: CRANKIN’ IT AT THE HOODIE SHOP

So we’re pretty damn lucky this year at New York City’s CMJ Music Marathon… Why?

Well, usually we spend the week crisscrossing through Lower Manhattan & Brooklyn, dodging oncoming traffic and pole-vaulting over construction sites to get from club to club and band to band. This year, we’re set up in The Hoodie Shop in LES and having acts come right to us all day long. Genius!

Here’s a pic of the basic setup and we’ve got performance vids & interviews coming shortly.

First day of shooting started off with Mac Demarco who was followed by…

2PM – Guards @ The Hoodie Shop

This band has that breezy, happy-go-lucky power pop sound that keeps us believing that summer ain’t over (or at least June isn’t so far away). Give a listen to Silver Lining and check back soon for their acoustic performance of this tune that we grabbed during their session yesterday.

4:35PM – Roadkill Ghost Choir @ The Hoodie Shop Gotta give these guys extra love for bringing some twang to the mix with a banjo and pedal steel guitar, beaming us straight from New York City back to the farm! Really strong songwriting especially on Beggar’s Guild.

7:20PM – Fort Lean @ The Hoodie Shop According to the band, “the weather is perfect all the time” in Fort Lean. Gauging the temperature in The Hoodie Shop as happy hour rolled along, we were certainly ready for them to bring their climate-controlled jams to close out our shoot for Day 1. Then we did the hop-around and caught a whole big handful of bands until reuniting with our old friends…

12:05AM – Local Natives @ Bowery Ballroom It’s been a while and man, we’ve missed these guys. Voices are sounding clear as ever and the new tracks are really promising! It seemed like the band was having an awesome time and we can’t wait to hear that new album.

Today we’ve got Deap Vally, The Last Bison, Conveyors and Team Spirit rolling through and videos from all these CMJ Hoodie Shop sessions are coming soon!
