Planet Roo Non-Profit Partners
When we first hosted this little-big get-together in 2002, there were just 2 nonprofits tabling on site. Today, that little coffee shop is Planet Roo, and it’s not just a place to buy a scone; it’s a vortex of positive change. Last year, Planet Roo played host to 25 unique nonprofits, each one spreading its own unique message of sustainability.
This year we are excited to announce 26 unique groups, many of them new to Planet Roo as well some mainstays! Come visit HeadCount and register to vote, explore a Shelterbox tent from Shelterbox a humanitarian relief organization that provides shelter, warmth and dignity in the wake of natural disasters, or come meet the fine folks from the Appalachian Law Center to learn about current issues they are addressing in coal country. Each group in Planet Roo will have a number of ways for you to get involved! Check each one out here.
Of course, Planet Roo is more than just a hub of social responsibility. It’s also home to the Solar Stage, (which is now one of the Southeast’s leading summer yoga zones), and host to educational venues The Bonnaroo Academy, The Learning Garden, and The Post Office, a snail mail distribution center made almost entirely of hay bales. Hay is pretty much inedible, it’s resistant to decomposition, and it’s a great insulator. It’s a wonder substance. This is what sustainability is all about.
We hope you sent a letter or learned something new at Planet Roo last year, and we hope you do so again this year!
